Planning a getaway from London, where to go?
If you think about the UK, the first city that comes to your mind first is London. London is a great city but there is so much more to the UK than London. Below we list some cities that are worth to visit this summer.
Oxford
A city full of incredible architecture, Oxford is famed for it’s prestigious university (one of the oldest in the world) and it is just over an hour from London so a really easy option for a weekend break. This city has a lot of history and if that is something you are into, consider a visit. A guided tour of all colleges in Oxford is available as they provide a look at university life, the architecture and the history of the school. The largest park in Oxford is South Park, with free admission and sweeping view of the city, the park can be filled with people, playing all kinds of sport, picnicking and wandering around.
Bath
Another city with bundles of architecture, history including the Roman baths, taking pride in producing great food, entertainment and more. Bath is a city that got plenty to do all year round, but it is recommend to visit in July because it is a walkable city with pretty streets, lovely parks and river Avon to enjoy. This is a great way to familiarise yourself with the city, and the best way to visit the great places in Bath. There are also free walking tours, these are informative and show all the key sights. The roman baths are one of the top things to see in Baths, the waters were known for their healing properties.
Manchester
Manchester is a city with a mix of the old and the new, new building merging and weaving into old ones. Manchester is also the 3th most visited city in the UK. It’s on of those cities that have a little something for everyone, so much culture, variety that makes this city an incredible stop on your England road trip. The imperial war museum that is also located there takes visitor on walk through military history. Not to forget about the football museum
York
One of the UK’s most charming city, it is not the biggest nor the loudest but what it does have are charming old British buildings. Explore the remains of the iconic York Castle; a hotspot situated on top of the hill makes a great visit to see the view. Unlike some historical locations, you cannot miss this incredible piece of architecture; York Minster is so vast and with so much detail.
