Continue to live in the UK after it/if leaves the EU
You probably don’t want to hear about Brexit anymore. Constantly arguing politicians, protest and rumours are not the most pleasant experience if you’re planning to stay here for a longer period of time.
It’s easy to lose a track of what is going on and we completely understand that. That’s why we are here to help. We’ve prepared a handful advice for you so don’t be overwhelmed anymore and take easy steps to protect your rights.
Luckily, the UK government has reached the agreement with EU that will protect the EU citizen’s as well as their family member’s rights.
The agreements mean that most of the citizens from EU, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Switzerland will need to apply to stay in the UK. Therefore, they can continue living their lives here as they do now.
If you’re:
- Planning to continue living in the UK after 31 December 2020
- Not a British or Irish citizen
- A citizen of another EU or EEA country, or Switzerland
You will need to apply for the EU Settlement Scheme. You have plenty of time until 30 June 2021.See the link below to apply for the EU Settlement Scheme:

You just need a valid passport or national identity card. You also need to provide a digital photo of your face.
In a nutshell, any person already living here will be able to apply for settled status, as well as anyone who comes to the UK between March 2019 and 2021.
